
Sponsored by Tsingtao Beer the London Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival 2010 is set to take place on the 27th June at the London Regatta Centre.
Full footage and pictures of previous events can be seen on this site, where we endure 3 x races along the Thames (of 200 metres each) against other rowers of varying abilities, all of whom get wet!
This year beneficiaries are various Chinese Community Centres in London and the event will take place at the London Regatta Centre, Royal Albert Docks (opposite City Airport) on 27th June 2010 (Sunday) from 10.00am – 5.00pm.
The Dragon Boat event is becoming an important day in the Chinese calendar with over 10,000 people expected to attend. It is anticipated that over 40 dragon boat teams will be participating including individual entrants, charitable organisations, local businesses and companies.
There will be live staged entertainment by Chinese media throughout the day, children’s play area, game stalls, gift stores, authentic Chinese cuisine, Tsingtao Bar, Dragon Dance and Kung Fu demonstration.
You will need a team of at least 17 (A Dragon Boat team consists of 17 individuals namely 16 rowers and 1 drummer) – you can have more than 17 and swap rowers between races.
